This award-winning illustration was hand drawn in Photoshop. It accompanied a fantasy magazine story about a man falsely accused of being the devil; the optical illusion in this illustration -- are those horns, or is it the roofline -- suggest the ambiguous nature of man's actions, and the confused interpretations by his neighbors.
This, and two other Gibbs illustrations, appear in the 2003 Communication Arts Illustration Annual.
Illustrator Michael Gibbs, who creates illustrations for magazine, corporate clients, and books, has for many years worked in a mixed media style that included digital elements. He continues to explore new techniques, including this purely digital -- and award-winning -- style.
